Has it really been two weeks since I last posted? Things from the past two weeks to catch you up:

1. An unexpected and very exciting opportunity, a paid internship as a technical writer, has popped up. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that everything pans out because this could be my break into a “big girl job” (as my mom calls it) for after I graduate. Not to mention, great experience. Do me a favor, keep your fingers crossed too!

2. Foam party.

3. It’s time to sign another lease for the house we’ve been renting. I can’t believe it’s already been a year that Chris and I have lived together! I think it’s fair to say that I successfully trapped this boy. Haha.

4. As exciting and great this past two have been it’s also been terrifying and stressful. My grandma has been in the hospital the past few days after suffering a stroke. She’s doing well, thank goodness.

Awkward sweetest moment of the day last two weeks: Arriving at home at one am, still in our wedding attire, and having Chris ask me to slow dance in our dark living room.

I’m happy.

Today I wore my new readers, ate ice cream, and spent the day walking around the city with Chris.

Did anyone watch last week’s episode of Game of Thrones? We just finished it up and I’m completely distraught! And only one episode left! What am I going to do with myself? Thank God that the new seasons of True Blood and Entourage are about to start!

I’m going to be away from blogging for a bit. See you soon!

Can I just say that I hate the “can’t wear white dress to a wedding” rule. I get that the idea of it is to not upstage the bride. But c’mon, a cotton dress isn’t much competition for a wedding gown! I’m just saying if I’m going to be a spending an evening outside in the hot summer sun, like I will be on Saturday, I want to look effortless like Rachel Bilson does here.

But it’s bad taste to wear white, I know, so I’ll be a good sport and wear this Vero Moda dress from ASOS instead. Why I like it: it’s lightweight material, a playful print, and one shouldered. Though I like prints, I find that I rarely ever buy them so this is will be a nice addition to my wardrobe! And to avoid looking too leggy I’ll be pairing it with these gladiator sandals.

Who am I kidding, I will probably be wearing this casually around for the rest of the summer.

a nontraditional workday

In the summer months, since I don’t have classes, I get to go on little ride alongs with Chris when he works. He sells and transports chemical for water treatment. So the majority of his job is just driving all over Oklahoma, into Kansas & Missouri and then pumping chemical. I do a big part by mostly just sitting in the truck and keeping him company!

This trip was a well in Kansas. In field of cows. But Chris claims there has never been any cows in there before, but they sure weren’t shy to come up around him and the truck.

Dirty hair, trucker hat, & oversized tee…I clean up real nice for these trips. Chris is a lucky man! Ha.

Bless my father! Bless my father! I can finally do an outfit post courtesy of that man. Begrudgingly, I might add. (Him: “Alissa, this isn’t one of those things you can just borrow and keep so long I forget you have it. Bring it back. On Saturday.”) But borrowing none the less! And I am thrilled. Three days of outfits after a month of being camera-less = heaven.

In other news: it’s becoming outrageously hot in Oklahoma. I feel like I’ve been sweating since 9am. Why don’t I own any actual summer clothes?

*Camera model is Nikon D3100

pups in play

Somebody, meaning Chris, doesn’t like to pay the $8 it costs to go the pool so we’ve set out our lawn chairs, hooked up the sprinkler, and brought out the pup’s outdoor toys. And boy, Ossie and Bane love it.
Ossie is a ball hog. So when it comes to fetch, most of the game is spending time trying to get it back from Ossie.
Finally, caught!

hot start

I have dubbed “Faster Ride” by Cartel my summer song and have been listening to it maybe nine times in a row this morning.  (Yeah, it’s an old song, so what?) We are going a little man-shopping this afternoon! One of Chris’ closest friends is getting married in two weeks and Chris’ closet looks like it belongs to a boy-man. I’m serous. No dress pants, no button downs, not even a polo in there. Just Hanes and sport teams t-shirts. He told me likes Ryan Gosling in this outfit. Snazzy huh? I’m game.

Also, some disappointing news: I no longer have a camera! I can’t use the ones I had been using since I’m no longer taking art classes at university. It’s been a bit of mess of attempts, but even after offering to pay fees, etc. it’s been a no-go. I keep going through “I should just take a break from blogging” but I don’t want to. It sucks not having a camera to do photos/outfits but, blah…we’ll make it work! You may be seeing a lot of Alissa on the webcam again haha.

It’s almost the weekend, happy Thursday guys!
