i haven't changed but i'm not the same

Blazer - local shop, sunglasses, top - Forever 21, bottoms - American Eagle, shoes - Dexter

This outfit didn’t happen until three this afternoon. After rolling into my last day of classes in pajamas and ponytail. After doing more studying for my finals that are next week. After an exhausting working out. And after lying down on the floor and catching my breath. A blazer from this post and striped sweater from this post. How do you like my boat shoes? I had to throw them on to go with my sailor stripes!

My finals are Thursday and Friday of next week. Three writing exams and then my final project for art. Sometimes I wish I had done a major in the arts because I’ve had a lot of fun in my art class this semester. Our final project is doing a self portrait from a black & white photo taken by our professor. So depending on how it turns out…I may post how mine turns out? Haha, maybe not. My photograph is a goofy face/pose, while all the girls in my class have these stunning photos of themselves. Critique over our final project will be interesting!

Also cheers to my sister! It’s her birthday today! …She’ll now forever share it with the anniversary to the royal wedding.

help yourself to a burger basket

Nothing has really gone as planned today. I didn’t go on campus early or finish writing that paper from last night. I didn’t fix my hair or dress in anything fancier than a t-shirt. (Honestly, I’ve spent this entire week in a t-shirt.).

I did, though, get surprised with a lunch at a local diner and $4.99 burger basket. By some super great boyfriend!

little dears,

dear heating pad,
Thank you for curing my cramps. And for keep me toasty during this rainy weekend.

dear the office,
I love that Will Ferrell has been guest starring! But sadface to Steve Carell’s last episode is next week.

dear running shoes,
Maybe some other day.

dear easter,
You don’t feel like a real holiday anymore. I miss getting little treats left in a big wicker basket from my parents! I remember one year, the movie Pocahontas was stashed in there too! (Was it just me that wanted a pet raccoon after that movie?)

dear bedtime stories,
It’s my favorite time to tell Chris unimportant facts about my day. Like, how I forgot to pack my glasses in my bag and spent the entire 3hr art class squinting at the blurry glass bottles we were drawing. And having the teacher stop and ask, “So…exactly which part of this are you trying to do?”

dear nba western finals,
Be the Lakers vs the Thunder, please please!

dear straw fedora,
Sorry I returned you, we just weren’t working out. But I’ll keep looking!

dear university,
Only weeks left to go? Okay! :)

Can you believe I’m not wearing any black today? I’m in such good spirits today because last night I got to sleep! I often have a terrible time sleeping and for the past three days, I haven’t at all. Going about classes and seeing people, I’ve been a complete zombie. But now I’m finally rested and feeling back to myself! Happy dance.

This afternoon, Chris and I decided to ignore the growing pile of dishes and overflowing basket of laundry to play outside with the pups. I also feel very sneaky-sneaky about showing off my legs today, thanks to some nude tights. Bwaha, I’m pretty impressed with myself.

Tank, fringe sandals (old!) - American Eagle, Scarf, leggings, satchel - Forever 21

The weather has been hot, hot and absolutely brilliant in Oklahoma. (Well, except for yesterday. I felt like a slug and all I could think was “waah, when do the pools open!?”) I wasn’t feeling around to getting my picture taken, hence only the snippets of an outfit post. I had to dig around my closet for these black fringe sandals (omg fringe! drooool). They were tucked away in my summer clothes box! Jeez, I don’t even remember when I got these but it was at least two summers ago. Maybe even three?

There was a bunch of tours happening on campus this afternoon. I remember being a high school senior and going on mine! Carrying around a bulky name tag, a big eager grin, and an orange bag with goodies in it from the school. One group stopped and asked my about my major, etc. It’s funny because they all look so young! Eighteen doesn’t look as old as it use to feel.

But overall today’s been nice. I spent the morning catching up on Conan episodes and then went to classes. Only mishaps: spilling chocolate milk on my charger (eek! panic!) and  leaving the house without putting on deodorant (whoops).

Bane doing some handy work on our trees. And check out Ossie’s tail…it’s finally getting its pug curl!

notes in a diary

After all the craziness that was this weekend, it was nice to go to my favorite pizzeria with my favorite boy. To hold hands in an old booth with cracked leather seats. To slow everything down and be reminded what really counts.

Other things from my weekend:
  • the batch of cookies I baked (and nearly ate all by myself)
  • walking around in the heat and the compulsive need to keep my hair up
  • singing messages on a friend’s voicemail
  • my sister’s college graduation invitation
  • the adorable pile of wrinkles that is my parent’s new puppy
  • Chris catching me eating a cinnamon roll and reading a magazine while in the tub
  • NBA finals first round

r & r

This morning I had a sleepy start. Ok, a very sleep start. I was completely cinnabun cozy and warm in bed. It was dark and windy and rainy outside. Perfect weather to stay inside…but I got up and with a ballcap and without a bra, I left for the class that ended up being canceled. Ooph.

I’m now at home painting my nails and enjoying the start to my weekend. My friend is arriving in town later this afternoon, so eventually I’ll stop being lazybones and get up and around.  I’m ready for some movies & margaritas!

Feather and beads hair clip - DIY, vintage tee - Forever 21, shorts - DIY, flats - Old Navy, bracelets - assorted from American Eagle and local shops

Today was just one of those days where everything was a bit off. I blame it on the fact I woke up two hours before my alarm. I don’t feel much like blogging but I did want to post something. I’m so tied down with coursework I don’t know when I’ll post next!

Awkward moment of the day: when we’re out for a walk at the lake and within the first few minutes, Bane pees on Ossie.

please be good, april

Outfit: button down top - Chris’, bottoms - Forever 21, tights - local, flats - Buckle

Believe it, I’m wearing these shorts agaaain! First seen here and then here. I’m definitely getting my moneys worth with these babies. They are so just versatile! This is one of those outfits that looks better in real life and doesn’t transfer well on camera. I pulled this button down from Chris’ closet. I had planned on wearing it as a shirt dress with a belt, but it was way too see-through and short. So I pulled it up and tied it! I like how it turned out!

(I was wanting to wear these New Look wedge heels but it wasn’t happening with how much walking I had to do today.)

I feel like I’m dragging today. My sleep over the past few nights has been super spotty. My brain is feeling fried. I had two quizzes and an exam this afternoon. Needless to say, I’m glad it’s Friday. I’m going to unplug from my computer this weekend. Stay off the internet. Do coursework and studying for another exam on Monday. (Only a month or so left of classes!) Kiss my wonderful boyfriend. Play with my pups. Be a bum and not put on make-up. How’s that sound?

Awkward moment of the day: when you walk into class and someone has suddenly up and moved into your chair. The chair you've been sitting three times a week for the entire semester. So you end up in a spot too far away to see the power-point (great, this professor never puts his slides online either) and sitting behind the girl who's hair is so long it piles onto your desk (and your notebook).

See you Monday!

make your own flower crown

So I’ve been promising a DIY on how to make a flower crown since I posted these photos from my birthday. I really loved how it turned out so I made not only one for myself but one for my mom and sister to wear. And finally, here it is! It’s fairly simple to do and all the supplies can be found stores like Wal Mart. Let’s get started!

Take floral wire and unwrap a large amount and cut. Create a circle with the wire that can fit comfortably on your head. I wanted my frame to be a little more sturdy so I wrapped it around five or six times.
Time to add in the silk flowers! This is a bit of a trial and error. The first crown I made I used too many flowers in a bunch. But take one (or several) flowers and begin to wrap the wire around them tightly. You can use pliers but I found it quicker just to use my fingers.

Continue adding flowers to fill the crown until you have the desired amount. You can fill the entire circle with blooms, or just the front or like I did, place flowers just at the side. Now, cover the exposed floral wire using the floral tape. It is sticky so it will stick to itself. Make sure there is no wire sticking out!

That’s it! Not much to it, eh? I hope you all enjoyed and make some of your own flower crowns! Be sure to send me photos ;)
