Yesterday was another bizarre weather day for Oklahoma! Though the weather was up in the seventies, snow and ice are predicted for Monday. (Give us a snow day!) What’s going on with these drastic weather changes? The suddenly warm got me wanting to wear something floral. But since I’ve been hibernating these winter months, I’ve been looking deathly pale! I decided to keep with tights and knee highs with my shorts because without, my legs looked ghastly!

I wore this down to my parent’s house. We spent a lot of the day outside with my mom. She was mostly busy with outside chores like watering plants and poop scooping, Chris and I played around with all the dogs and relaxed on their lawn furniture. Not very helpful, were we? A delicious dinner and watching Inception came later once my dad was home from work at the winery. It's always a treat to spend an evening with them.

For those new to my blog, this is our big boy Bane! He is a pitbull and has been with Chris since he was a seven week old puppy.

Today is my long day of uni. My classes begin at 1230 and are spaced oddly throughout until 10 tonight. No fun! But this week has been passing seamlessly and I’m ontop of my coursework…studying for an exam on Monday and finishing Frankenstein (which I read in high school) for my lit class.

I picked this wear today! The sun is out and the weather has warmed into the mid-sixties. I haven’t actually worn anything but leggings/jeggings for the past two months (?) so pulling out this old pair was a change of pace. Something funny about my shopping eye is that I never buy new pairs of jeans. Never meaning never. I got these from a friend of mine who grew out of them. The top is a buy from online that I immediately had buyer’s remorse for. It was seriously ill fitting and just appeared like a night gown—it was so long! I couldn’t find a way to wear it until this morning, hello partial front tuck.

What’s going on with my hair you ask? Well, I’ve always been about full looking side-swept bangs. They were sacred and I would never let anyone but my mom trim them! (Crazy) But randomly just before my last salon appointment, I decided to try some new things with my hair and purposefully have been growing them out. We’ll see how it goes…I may just pop back home and demand my mom to cut them back to my norm.

So I know I said I was going to do Sunday Vlogs now and I did record one, I promise! But I was blinking like a crazy person throughout the entire video so I figured just best to skip it. This is what I wore today to go to classes and pop around town to run errands. I switched it up and wore flats instead of boots! Shocking, right?

I’m so very excited about last weekend. I was able to meet up with some friends for the afternoon. It was a great catch-up. I am a generally nosy person so I like to hear what’s going on with people but these ones are truly great and deserve all the happiness. The other reason is that I’m actually beating Chris in our NFL play-offs this year! Both my picks won last week, the Packers and the Steelers, so they will be playing in the Super Bowl in two weeks. Having said that, I can’t wait for football to officially end so we can just watch basketball.

Speaking of…the Lakers are finally getting there game together after a spotty few weeks. They have the third best record behind the Spurs and Celtics (scowl) but at least they’re ahead of the Heat (take that, Chris!). But only by a half-game…

Ossie is officially potty-trained! He has been very good about not making messes and going to the door ever since we left my parent’s during Christmas time (they are dog-whisperers!), but we would occasionally have a small mishap. Like when I freshly stripped and washed the sheets, he crawled under the covers to pee and then moved a few feet away to fall asleep. I only realized when I got in and it pooled around my leg. I wanted to tear my face off. But it’s been a few weeks since I’ve had to use the pet stain and paper towels. Such a relief!

Pug tongue! I know this has been all Ossie spam but when we take pictures he always lingers around and Bane wanders off to do his own thing!

My moleskine, my knit hats and belts collection

Very little posts this week! I haven’t being feeling hugely motivated to get ready these past few days or photogenic (eee pimples!). That and I’m very boring. I’d just be complaining about walking to uni in the snow and then finding out the class was canceled or how I’ve been doing so much note taking that my handwriting is beginning to look like scribbles.

I was meaning to drive up to the city this afternoon to meet up with my mom but given all the ice on the roads I think I may not?

In quick news, Chris had another doctor’s appointment a day or so ago. He went an hour and a half drive to the office and had to wait two hours to be seen because of overbooking! So outrageous, what’s the point in having an appointment? He is healing well though. He is still stuck in his sling and sleeping on the couch. I can’t say I mind too much, at night Bane and I have turned into complete bed hogs—sprawled all over the mattress with the covers all tangled!

clumsy, creative bliss

Scarf - snagged from my mom, Forever 21 leather jacket, Forever 21 bag, basic black leggings, white racer tank, Forever 21 relaxed fit top

So I’ve ripped this scarf (sorry mom, you’re never getting it back!) and jacket from this outfit to wear to art class this morning. Brr rabbit, it was so cold this morning! So I doubled up on my leggings but couldn’t find my winter coat! Baah, I must start dressing more appropriately for the weather.

I haven’t really talked much about the art class I enrolled in this semester. It is just basic Drawing I. I still feel rather nervous about being in the class since I have so little experience, not to mention talent, as the other students but I am very really interested in taking Illustration and Typography later on, and Drawing I is the prerequisite. I am use to taking lots of writing and literature classes where there is so much hot air being mixed around and the art class is so soothing and quiet compared to them. The studio is large and there is lots of area to work. There isn’t a whole lot of talking or noise making so it allows for you to truly focus on what you’re making. It’s a nice change of pace. But I do feel like such a wanna-be art student carrying around my giant drawing pad on campus!

But I’m off! I have twenty pages left of my novel (Castle of Otranto) to read and some lab work to finish.

So I’ve decided to axe doing “Sunday portraits”, it feels a bit silly doing a weekly portrait when my regular posts usually include photos. So what I think I may do instead, since I’ve been feeling around vlogging lately, is do a weekly/Sunday vlog! I didn’t get around to filming one yesterday—Chris and I met up with his parents to spend the day with them. When I finally had the free time to sit down, all the lighting in the house was gone!

This is what I wore on Saturday when we went to watch Black Swan. The weather was chilly and nice so I only layered up with two pairs of long sleeves. I absolutely loved Black Swan (directed by Darren Aronofsky and starring Natalie Portman). I heard from friends that it was bizarre and weird so I was worried that I had built up watching the movie but it did not disappoint me! I adore ballet and Swan Lake was one of my favorite tales as a girl but the dark tones and psycho thriller plot really brought something unexpected and new.

No school today! It started off with lazily sleeping in and cinnamon buns. Laundry, coursework, and some television seem like a good plan.

we might as well be strangers

Leather jacket, lace trim top - Forever 21, liquid leggings, lace up boots - local shop, knee socks - gift, scarf - snagged from my mom

This has been a trying week for me. I’ve spent the majority of it crying in bed or crying to Chris or crying on the phone to my mom. Not a wide range of emotions as you can tell. I realize, since I write a blog, a lot of my life is public through the internet but there are some things that should remain private and this is one of those things. The internet does not deserve to know everything! I can say that I feel a bit of wreck and I can’t stop thinking “What am I going to do? What am I going to do?”

In less dramatic news, I have completed my German course! What a relief! One semester of foreign language down. University is closed this Monday so all students have a three day weekend! Joy! But I have the very serious project of drawing rectangles from my art class and then the rest of a novel to finish for my Narratives class. But for this afternoon Chris and I are going to watch the matinee showing of Black Swan (finally!) and then no doubt watch NFL football all afternoon.

Headed to university today in the snow! The snow is still hanging on but barely. I actually woke up at 730 this morning to be ready for a job interview but thirty minutes after I got out of the shower they called to reschedule. (Grr, this is the second time I’ve rescheduled!) So it was postponed to later this afternoon.

End result, my face and hair were made up but I stayed in pajamas when my art class rolled around. But never the less, cross your fingers for me! I am quite nervous/anxious about the interview.

All our winter programming has ended and we’ve been looking for some new shows to watch so last night we watched the new SHO show Shameless. Anyone else watched it? It originally caught my eye because of Emmy Rossum. I like her as an actress and was surprised to see her on television show. Either way, you should check it out!

I also made a quick vlog for today? You can watch it here! But I am off to change clothes for my interview!

I’m in such a mood today! I have a canker sore resting in the gum of my front lip, I got little to none sleep last night, and have a deep gash on my finger (from being a monster with the brownies). Earlier this week I also began running and lifting weights so I’m wobbling from being so sore! Definitely out of shape, this one! I just want to sneak back into bed with some chocolate milk.

Today is the first day of Chris’ very favorite time of the sports year: NFL play-offs! He has been excited all day and even printed us out our own brackets. We’re going week by week to make it all a bit easier on me!

My picks this weekend: Ravens, Colts, Saints, Eagles  His picks: Ravens, Colts, Saints, Packers

I haven’t left the house at all today. I was originally planning on going into the office to work today but its still closed down until next week. So instead I’ve just been doing German flash cards and reviewing (I have two exams to complete the first two weeks of classes). I’ve also been eating like a mad man. We went grocery shopping yesterday so our cabinets and fridge are finally properly filled up!

I’ve also made the effort to make my first vlog, its posted up on my new YouTube channel Alissa B Etc. It’s just small haul video of the items that came in the post from Forever 21. I don’t have any video editing programs on my computer so this was filmed as an empromptu-play-it-by-ear.

I feel like I should also disclaimer that my haul posts are not created with the intent of bragging. I really enjoy watching hauls and hope that mine do not come across foul-like.

Photos of what I received from Christmas, varying from Chris to my parents to his parents. I already have packed away all the winter decorations we got, like the “A” and “C” snow globes from Chris’ parents or the stockings with our names and the pups’ names on them crafted from my mom, so no photos of those!
